Really good considerations, Paula, and thanks for the positive approach...
...yet I still discuss internally with myself [what does that look like, Mr. Donath?]whether more precise tasks are/would have been helpful; background: you had quite a lot of ideas concerning parts of the book and working on them by help of the handouts and - I think a reading log needs a reader's motivation to write something on his/her own - which doesn't mean I'd criticize your blog, on the contrary, smashing work!

Same opinion on my side - at the same time wondering: why do we want her to decide like this - is it because her decision is too strange fro ur/our way of thinking?
Are we perhaps to westerly rational, serious, decent that we prefer an alternative ending like Paula's?
Anyway, I do prefer a similar ending as well - the narrator's behaviour is a bit "ab vom Pad" :-)

Hey Paula,
I like your ending of Heat and Dust although it might be unimagiable because the narrator changes his opinion concerning life in India very contrary to her decision in the novel.
But I also prefer this ending because I don't like her naivity of staying in India and waiting for what will happen.

You mentioned that the narrator does not want to live the same life as Olivia did and I think this idea is very interesting because we get to know that she somehow started to do so.
Maybe this ending is not as imaginative but I however like it because it seems convincing. :)

Hey Paula,
I'm also somehow disappointed in the end. During the book one expects a dramatic and exciting elopement or end but this is not fulfilled.
A good entry!

Your opinion entirely corresponds to mine. The end is kind of disappointing which you depicted in a ggod summarised version... ;)
